  1. I’d call this a smugshot. It’s amazing how much character this portrait shows. That and how good reptilian skin is when you’ve got good lighting and shadows.

  2. In regards to your description of “Tools and tricks: free camera, timestop, no-HUD, custom FOV, JeanLuc761′s hi-res character textures, in-world HUD textures blanked, antialiasing (injected max quality FXAA 3.11 w/ texture pre-sharpening), 2160p rendering.” Do you just do this for screenshots, or are you actually able to play the games looking this incredible at smooth frame rates? What would be some recomended pc specs to get something like Mass Effect 2 to look this amazing?

  3. @josh, I don’t speak for Duncan, but if I could answer, yes and no, it depends. Often the tools and tricks make the game less stable and/or slower, to varying degrees of severity. However, a lot of the time if you were to tone the tools and tricks down a bit, you could have the game much more playable but still looking 95% as good as it does in these screenshots. In this case, the textures add about 10-15 minutes to your initial loading time, and you will experience occasional frame lockups.

As for recommended specs, Mass Effect 2 is not very resource demanding. With these tools and tricks (minus the 2160p rendering which isn’t necessary in-game) I would recommend:
CPU: A high end Intel Core i5 or any Core i7, don’t bother with AMD
    RAM: At least 4 GB
GPU: Nvidia GTX 560 Ti/AMD HD 6950 or better, but if you wait a month or two, the new graphics cards will be out
An SSD is a nice luxury to have (makes load times on games significantly faster) but isn’t necessary.

  4. Ah yes, I do hate that even without the fancy modding Grunt’s cargo bay somehow has the best lighting in the entire game.
